The Landscape Research Centre is engaged in a number of experiments concerned with 3D recording using Laser Scanners and 3D imaging from photography. These include the use of the Surphaser scanner to test its use to compliment recording of difficult wet deposits at Star Carr, Leica HDS scanners at Lastingham, to document the crypt, and at Boltby Scar Hillfort. At Boltby Scar the Leica scanner was used to record the surface of a scheduled barrow under excavation and an adjacent Hillfort ditch section:
