The data collection and analytical programme which underpins this resource has only been possible thanks to long term support and encouragement from English Heritage with funding from the EH Archaeological Commissions and ALSF grant programmes.  The primary dataset is focussed on the area centred upon West Heslerton and number of comparative areas examined by the LRC elsewhere in the Vale of Pickering. The resource has been greatly enhanced by a layer showing the crop-mark rough-plots held as map overlays by North Yorkshire County Council Historic Environment Team. These are niether time-coded nor very precisely plotted but give a clear indication of the minimum levels of activity to be expected in those areas that are responsive to crop-mark formation.
